100 Metres is a good distance for ladies to work from (150m for men).
Lets say your 100m club is your 5 iron
This means that you can work up and down from this measurement:
100m but it is uphill you will need to add a club so hit a 4 iron (or hybrid depending on your clubs)
100m but it is downhill you will need to hit one club less so hit a 6 iron
Into the wind would be an extra club
Downwind is one club less.
If you are standing at 90m.. take a 6 iron
If you are 110m… take a 4 iron (or hybrid)
How can I work out how far I hit my clubs you ask??
Go to your practise area and hit ten 5 irons, pace them out if you can and take the average distance.
You can work out your distances this way and work on 10 metres difference between each club.
And YES, when selecting the club you have to assume you will hit a good shot…don’t select a club allowing for not quite connecting properly because thats just when you will hit it well and it will go over the back so always select the club assuming you will hit it well…
Having said that…if you are in between clubs go for the longer club and hit it smoothly as we generally underclub more often than not…
Good Golfing
