This is a great game to improve your short putting. You play it with a friend and it should take about 20 minutes so you can play it anytime, before or after you play or even at home on the carpet. We used to play it when we were on tour and it is great for simulating the pressure you feel on the course.
You can also play it with chipping or pitching into a target like an upturned umbrella or laundry basket. If you get the ball into the target its the same as holing the putt
Rules for the 'Horse' Putting game:
Toss a coin to see who goes first, Player 1 has the advantage in this game.
The winner of the toss, Player 1 then places his/her ball within a short distance of the hole (or select a position to pitch from), in a position of his/her choice and endeavours to hole the putt. If Player 1 succeeds player 2 attempts the putt as well.
If Player 1 misses, player 2 does not need to attempt the same putt and becomes Player 1 and can then choose the location of the next putt.
If Player 1 succeeds and Player 2 misses the putt then Player 2 receives the letter 'H' and so on until one player completes the word Horse.
You can only receive a letter as Player 2. The first player to complete the word 'Horse' loses.
You can play this game in a group. All players attempt the same putt, those that miss the putt receive a letter. The order of play rotates as each player putts, receiving a letter as they miss or not if they hole the putt until there is one player left with the least letters of the word Horse who is the winner.
