The above graphic is a page from the ‘Passport to great golf’ a great way to take the tips onto the course with you.
Does it matter how high I tee the ball?
I am often asked how high should you tee your woods up? This one is easy.
You should always be able to see roughly half of the ball over the top of the club.
So if its a driver and you have a large headed club then you will need one of the longer tees but if its a 5 wood you are teeing up, say on a par three then you would tee it lower.
If its an iron off the tee, tee it quite low, only about 1 or 2 millimetres off the ground, you are really just giving yourself an ideal lie for your irons not actually elevating the ball too much.
This tips important because woods teed too high can encourage you to sky the ball and teed too low you will not get the height you need on your shots…
